HMO: “GCSOAT” Greatest Child Star of All Time=Kenan Thompson

I thought long and hard about if I should make this assertion and then I thought, “I don’t think anyone has really done better with no public issues.” So here’s my case.

First, Nickelodeon was build off of Rugrats, Hey Arnold and Kenan & Kel. Those, amongst others, were my shows and some of the most popular. I remember Kenan and Kel on “All That”, and personally, I think they were the most popular kids on the show. We remember a lot of their characters versus says Josh Server or Alisa Reyes (I loved them, too). The chemistry between Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell was so strong that they gave them a show AND a movie. Think about the setup of the show though. The show focused on Kenan’s family. Much like Steve Urkel’s family, we never saw Kel’s family. Also, Kenan was always the mastermind behind the craziness that he and Kel got into. It could be safe to say that Kenan & Kel was Kenan’s show more so than Kel’s. I don’t believe that but one could argue that.

Same could be said for Good Burger. The movie introduces us to a problem Dexter have which causes him to have to get a summer job that landed him at Good Burger.

Even before all of this, he was one of the kids in D2: The Mighty Ducks and D3: The Mighty Ducks. Almost every year since 1994, he’s had a movie. That’s almost as impressive as Samuel L. Jackson who is in all the movies, even the ones that we don’t expect him to be in. They haven’t all been hits but they’ve been entertaining.

Now, let’s move to “SNL.” Thompson is the longest-tenured cast member in the show’s history and the longest-serving black cast member. He also holds the record for most celebrity impressions because who doesn’t love when he does Steve Harvey. Harvey plays like he doesn’t like it but he knows it’s spot on.

Last but not least, you have never heard of Thompson in trouble or in some sort of controversy….ever.

I want someone, anyone, to name someone who has this record and respect in the game. He’s been able to make children, parents and adults laugh. That is a feat not held by many which makes Kenan Thompson the greatest child star of all time.
