Marvel’s Legends is Necessary

As we discussed last week, Kevin Fiege and the Marvel machine announced a slew of new Disney+ shows and movies for the next two years or so, but do you remember ALL the things that happened in the various movies and TV shows? I’m a big MCU nerd and I follow New Rockstars, one of my favorite YouTube channels, who take time to breakdown the movies and trailers frame by frame, so I am caught up on all the Easter eggs and callbacks. What about you? I think this is where Legends is supposed to come in.

Hours ago on Instagram, Marvel announced a new Disney+ series that is described as a series that will “showcase individual characters viewers have come to know and love over the years and revisit some of their most iconic moments.” At first glance, this is just a highlight reel show but if you think deeper into what this show could do for someone who may not remember who Baron Zemo is or what happened to Red Skull in Captain America: The First Avenger, it’s a game changer. Think about it. We’ve watched 22 Marvel films that amount to countless hours of cinema PLUS the Agents of Shield TV show that also plays a part in the greater MCU. We need this show.

Marvel says they will start with the introduction of Wanda Maximoff and Vision, naturally, because their show is the first to debut on Disney+. Coincidentally, Wanda and Vision both got their start in Avengers: Age of Ultron, which I forgot until I read the article on the show. Now, one could argue that we’ve heard Vision as JARVIS, Tony’s AI system, but he became an android person, if you will, in Age of Ultron. We got to see Paul Bettany’s beautiful face.

I imagine the episodes after Wanda and Vision will be Falcon and Bucky, better known as the “Winter Soldier” since their show debuts March 19 of 2021.

Marvel’s Legends debuts on week before WandaVision on January 8th only on Disney+. Buy your subscription now or find a friend who has the app already. That’s what I do.
