I don’t think any of us have been more attracted to a villain than Loki. So much so that I don’t really care about Thor as much as I should. Hear me out…
Disney+ will be debuting a show based around Loki since we messed with time and now 2012 Loki is just roaming the Earth again…causing mischief…again. I am so much more interested in that than I have been for the past three Thor films. Think about it. Did you even watch Thor: The Dark World? As a resident Marvel Cinematic Universe girl who prides herself on seeing all 23 films, I have to confess that I have actually only seen 22 and have only seen parts of Thor: The Dark World. Apparently, I didn’t miss much so….
Let’s go to the opening scene in Infinity War. How did you know Thanos was a force and not to be played with? He killed Loki off rip! Sure, he killed half of Asgard but Loki though. That’s what we cared about and we thought there was a chance for him to come back, before Endgame, but Kevin Feige and them said, “Nah.” I can’t have been the only one who was sad for the first 30 minutes of that movie because of the loss of our beloved Loki.
Tom Hiddleston is genius in this role and I loved that they’ve decided to bring him back, even if it is a few versions in the past. They KNEW we would not stand with Thor and no Loki.
Honestly, this is literally a love letter to Loki. He’s a villain I love to love, especially in Thor: Ragnarok, which we’ll talk about at a later date. So tell me, is Loki a villain you love to hate or, are you like me, and love him more than Thor? Was he really his father’s favorite?
