My favorite nerd Youtubers, New Rockstars, posted this courtesy of comments made by the Russo Brothers, who are directing this soon-to-be epic film. Here’s what they said: “What you’ve been watching for the last 4 weeks… are not teasers. Or trailers. They are stories. They are clues… Pay attention.”
So, immediately, I wanted to spit out what my brain typed out. (Does anyone else imagine people in their head surrounded by file cabinets?) Below are all the “stories.”
Let’s start with Steve because I have no idea who this baby is. Thanks to Erik Voss, I learned that Peggy and Steve never had a son. Now, Erik went off the edge and said this baby could be a young Victor Von Doom. I doubt that, but I do think this “clue” is to tell us that we will see exactly what happened when Steve went back to place all of the stones back in place and then stay with Peggy. Remember, staying with Peggy was not something he was supposed to do. This would create an incursion. In the clip, this is the same house we saw when Steve was dancing with Peggy but he’s wearing a different shirt in that scene than he is in this story. Instead of asking who this baby is, the better question is where was Steve coming from and where is Peggy? I do want to inform you all that we can see that this baby is dressed in blue and this entire room is decorated in blue. This is a boy, Damon. (IYKYK!) So, no, this is not Sharon Carter. The end card in the story also says that Steve Rogers will return and not Cap, which is why it was important for us to see him putting the suit away. My thought here is if the intent was for us to focus on him putting up the suit and the baby, why would they show him arriving at the house? I would just start with a shot outside the house and get to the baby. I feel like the baby might not be as important as we think (at least in Steve’s story). Steve seems very calm and we know danger is afoot, and I’m sure he knows it. So…why is he so calm with this baby? Could Peggy be doing something? Is he putting the suit away because Peggy has taken over as the superhero in the family? My question for this story is where was Steve coming from and where is Peggy. That’s what may be important here.
Alright, I’m going out on a ledge with Thor, and this will also merge into the X-Men story. After I watched it a couple times, it reminded me of the opening scene of “Infinity War” when Loki is killed. Loki tells Thor that the sun will shine on them again. After the death of his brother, Thor fell into a deep depression. Thankfully, here, he seems to be in despair but not down and out. Let’s think here. Thor is praying with Stormbreaker which is now Love’s weapon. If we assume Doom took Love, he took her without a weapon–a powerful one at that. So, I think Doom isn’t after her strength or fighting ability or even the Bifrost because he could have made sure she had Stormbreaker. So what does Doom want with Love? I’ll tell you. Remember, her biological dad reached Eternity and asked them to resurrect his daughter. What if what Doom is after is a relationship or a connection to Eternity and he’s using Love to get it or to get to it? Now, we do know her adopted Uncle Loki will appear in “Doomsday,” which means Thor and Loki might connect in some way in this movie. I say might because I’m not sure Loki can physically leave his post, but I’m sure he will be the one to hear and see his brother’s prayer and maybe can try to do something on his end to guide Thor in the right direction.
Moving on to the X-Men. I know we’re all excited to have them back, especially Kevin Feige who got his start with the X-Men. Charles and Erik look at though they have been in hiding and have excepted their fate. They look content with where they are, but the line Charles utters here is chilling and reminds me of another Marvel moment. Charles says, “Death comes for us all. That’s all I know for sure. The question isn’t,’ Are you prepared to die?’ The question is, ‘Who will you be when you close your eyes?'” This line brings me back to WandaVision when Wanda created Vision and White Vision had their conversation surrounding “The Ship of Theseus.” If you recall, this was a deep philosophical conversation about what makes something authentic. If you replace something on an original, is it the same? What about if you just replace the parts that are broken and leave most of the original pieces there? Going back to Charles’ point, ‘who will you be when you close your eyes’ can have a couple meanings. One, who you will actually be. Like I will die as Amber. Two, is who I want to be when I close my eyes. What do I want to have accomplished? Have I done the right things in my life when I do reach that point in my life? Which brings me to Cyclops! Scott Summers is outside burning everything down with him in it. Here’ another Wanda reference for you all. Remember in “Infinity War” where Wanda was trying her hardest to keep Vision alive because he was the love of her life? Towards the end of that movie, she had to accept that she had to let him go, and she killed him to protect the mind stone and the world…all for it to not work. We lost. What if, and stay with me here, Scott is burning everything around him down to protect someone or something? I can’t say who or what that is, but I don’t think we’ll see Charles and Erik for long in this movie. Their knowledge, power, and influence is enough for Doom to come after them. Dare I say, could this line be Charles preparing to die like Dumbledore in “Harry Potter?” Would Charles and Erik plan their end with the help of Scott?
In Wakanda, you will notice that there are not trees. There is no water, which means the Talokan are in real trouble because they need water to survive. We see Ben has come to Wakanda, which can means the Fantastic Four could be with him. Honestly, I think it’s just Herbie and him. Everyone else might have stayed behind. Recall the post credits scene in “The New Avengers” who I still call “The Thunderbolts” because it sounds better to me. They saw that spaceship with the 4 on it. What if Herbie, Ben and whoever else is in the ship are making rounds to various timelines of importance to warn them? In addition to that, what if the salute that Shuri is doing is to Nakia because Shuri is getting on their ship to take Tussaint somewhere safe or to go get him? She could also be doing the salute to Okoye. Erik Voss believes that it could be a salute to Storm, but since we have not been introduced to Storm in the MCU, it’s a stretch. You would have to introduce her as someone of importance in Wakanda without T’Challa.
What do you all think? Why is Doom rounding up all these kids? Does he understand the consequences of having a bunch of kids? Aren’t there times when you want to just have someone take your kids or an extended stay?
